A section of Wiper Party members in Kilifi have lamented over missing names despite having registered with the political outfit before nominations. Confusion marred the party primaries with some members complaining about an alleged plot to lock them out of the exercise.Christine Akinyi, an aspirant for Sokoni, said she had more than six thousand members registered in the party but only 1500 of them were found in the register during the nominations. “I came here at 5:30 am this morning to cast my vote and watch my people cast their votes but to my dismay I found out that more than 300 voters are not in the register list,” said Akinyi, as quoted by Baraka FM.The aspirant asked the party’s leadership to come clear over the irregularities in a bid to calm the situation ahead of the August general election. “The Wiper board of election must come out clear to explain the situation to us because if it does not happen so, we will appeal for a repeat of these nominations,” she added. Akinyi further said that the nominations will likely not be free and fair, and accused Omar Mbaruk, a fellow aspirant of issuing voting cards to some of his supporters several weeks after the lists had been sent to the party’s head quarters. “Why is that our fellow aspirant issues blank cards to members? This nomination is totally unfair and I will not accept that,” said Akinyi.
