Wiper party members have revealed a plot to try and stop the nomination of Kalonzo Musyoka’s son to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA)The nomination of Kennedy Kalonzo has sparked a fierce debate on nepotism, with Wiper officials saying the former vice president’s eldest son won internal elections fairly. It has now emerged that not all Wiper party members support the decision to have the party leader’s relative get the coveted job. Wiper members Temi Mutua and Zeth Omollo plan to challenge the decision in court on Monday. They claim that Kalonzo’s son was rigged in and that the election process was flawed.“For instance, the chair of the NEC vetting panel, Farah Maalim, was not furnished with copies of Kennedy’s curriculum vitae by the secretariat although the CV was a mandatory requirement in the application,” they said in a statement, as per The Star. They also allege EALA rules were violated by Wiper when party officials submitted only one name to the national assembly, instead of three.
