Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo has asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and police to move with speed and summon two artists behind the Kikuyu 'Ikamba' song that mocks the Kamba community.
Maanzo claims the Francis Ole Kaparo led commission is taking too long to issue summons for the two artists.
Addressing the public in Makueni town on Wednesday, the Wiper legislator accused NCIC of being bias in investigating hate speech and incitement cases.
“We want to see the NCIC swift into action and issue summons for the two gentlemen who authored the disgraceful song,” Maanzo said.
Maanzo said the commission was quick to issue summons against Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu two weeks ago over allegations of incitement to violence.
“The National Cohesion and Integration Commission must get serious and stop being used by some people to drive their agenda, the commission must serve truly to its mandate ,” he said.
The Makueni MP said they will seek alternative measures should the NCIC fail to summon the 'Ikamba' song artist's.
While referring to the controversial 'Ikamba' song, the MP said the level of intolerance some people are taking is too dangerous for the country's peace.
Maanzo said the country is trading on dangerous paths asserting that it is time NCIC and other agencies got serious in taming incitement.
He said the two artists behind the song must be arrested, charged in court and forced to apologize to the Kamba community.
On Monday, NCIC chairman Francis Ole Kaparo said the commission is reviewing the song that the Kenya Film Classification Board has since banned.
Kaparo said action will be taken once the probe is complete.
Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior on Monday wrote to the NCIC and office of the DPP demanding for action.
The 'Ikamba' song continues to draw criticism with politicians and Kenyans condemning it.
On Tuesday, Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party vowed to seek legal action should the government fail to apprehend the authors.
