Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta's call for government officials' lifestyle audit.
Mbui said the president's move is an indication that the war against corruption is on course
"The other day we heard the president calling for a lifestyle audit for all government officials beginning with himself, followed by his deputy William Ruto. That's a great move, corruption should be fought relentlessly," Mbui said.
Mbui said those found guilty of graft should be held responsible contrary to what has been happening where suspects have been walking scot free.
He spoke during a thanksgiving ceremony at Ngiini Secondary School in his constituency on Friday.
Mbui said several of the leaders calling for lifestyle audit are the most corrupt hence proper auditing should be done to determine the source of their wealth.
" If you acquired wealth unlawfully the audit will expose you, that will explain why people who joined offices the other day own big hotels in the country properties we are sure they can't acquire with their salary," Mbui added.
"We know many who assumed office with totally nothing but now own vast properties, I don't need to mention them but they should also be audited," he concluded.
