This comes after a man suspected to be a rustler was arrested on Sunday by police officers in a crackdown targeting to curb the vice.

The MP said police officers should beef up security in the region or they be transferred to other areas.

"It is sad that police officers deployed to the constituency have failed to end livestock theft. Thieve have been left to walk free while locals are counting losses. This is unacceptable and police officers should wake up and do their work properly," he said.

The Wiper MP urged Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru to order police to intensify patrols day and night to end livestock theft.

"Nakoru should order police to beef up security patrols in the region to arrest cattle rustlers who are stealing in broad daylight," stated the lawmaker.

He called on local chiefs and Nyumba Kumi officials to be the watch dog at the village levels and report any c criminals to police.

"Chiefs with the help of Nyumba Kumi officials should up their game and ensure no criminal is hiding in villages," he added.
