Makueni Governor Professor Kivutha Kibwana has assured Kambas that Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka will be on the presidential ballot in 2022.

Kibwana says that Wiper party has embarked on consolidating its stake in NASA in readiness for Kalonzo’s bid in 2022.

Speaking to journalists after Wiper party special meeting at a local hotel in Athi River on Thursday, the Makueni governor said that they (Wiper) officials and politicians will push to ensure that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between NASA leader Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka is respected.

“We (Wiper) intends to stamp out authority in relation to an Mou signed between NASA affiliate parties which identified Kalonzo as the 2022 presidential candidate,” he said as quoted by the Star.

Kibwana said that they (Wiper) will move to action and start preparing for 2022 if no one challenges president elect Uhuru Kenyatta’s win in the October repeat poll at the Supreme Court.

He also said that Wiper will be convening a meeting to fill in positions left by certain members and officials who quit the party once its leader Kalonzo Musyoka who is in Germany on a family issue jets back in the country.

Raila signed an MoU with Kalonzo early this year indicating that the former Vice President (VP) will be NASA presidential candidate in 2022.

Raila who is the ODM party leader was to contest for the 2017 presidential election and thereafter back Kalonzo’s bid in 2022.

The former Prime Minister (PM) was quoted saying that the 2017 election was his final and last stab on the presidency.

The ODM leader deputized by Kalonzo was however beaten by Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 8 presidential election with over 1.4 million votes.

After the defeat, the former PM contested Uhuru’s re-election by filing a petition at the Supreme Court seeking to have Uhuru’s win nullified.

Raila’s wish was granted by the Supreme Court which nullified the August 8 presidential election and ordered for a fresh presidential election in 60 days.

The IEBC prepared for the repeat poll on October 26 but Raila withdrew at the last minute alleging a plot by  the poll agency  and Jubilee to rig him out.

The opposition leader went on to ask supporters to boycott the   repeat poll.

The  IEBC on the other hand went on to conduct the repeat election with Uhuru Kenyatta emerging winner with over 7 million votes.

Uhuru has since been declared president elect and gazetted and will be sworn in if no one challenges his re-election at the Supreme Court.

NASA has however vowed to fight Uhuru’s administration through a People’s Assembly, peaceful protests and economic boycott of certain services and products associated to Jubilee leaders.
