Wiper Party Secretary General Hassan Omar has urged Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama to reconsider his decision to quit the party.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Bomas of Kenya, the Mombasa Senator said it was impossible for senator Muthama to campaign for the NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga without extending the same support to Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka who is set to deputize Mr Odinga.
“Senator Muthama, Wiper is not in a fight with you. I ask you to come back. I have made this appeal to you in private and public. You cannot campaign for Raila Odinga, who is Nasa presidential candidate without campaigning for Mr Musyoka, they are tied on the hip," Omar said.
On his part, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr conceded that Muthama's exit from the party had dealt a huge blow to the outfit.
“He had a valid reason to question the exercise but he should not have left the party he helped build,” he observed.
Muthama announced his defection from Wiper Party on Monday, citing dictatorship in the party's top leadership.
