Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar has said the party will field candidates in all elective posts at the Coastal region in the forthcoming general polls.
Omar said Wiper is out to win as many seats as possible come August 8, adding that the political outfit has no reason to leave any of the elective posts for any other party after talks on joint NASA nominations were suspended.
The candidate to represent the party in the Nyali and Changamwe parliamentary seats will be selected during today’s (Tuesday) primaries.
Omar, who has been given a direct ticket to contest against Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, said the political outfit will not tolerate any case of violence.
The human rights activist turned politician, said the party will lock out any candidate who will be involved in acts that are likely to trigger violence during the party's primaries.
"Anyone who will try to disrupt or cause chaos will be disqualified. We have agreed that we will not slap fines on candidates who will cause chaos," said Omar, as quoted by the Standard.
The senator has continued to express confidence that he will defeat Joho in the August polls.
