National Super Alliance-affiliate party, Wiper, will not tolerate violence during its primary elections, party Secretary General Hassan Omar has said.He said the Wiper's disciplinary organ will punish rogue members who will not adhere to party ideals during its nominations."We wish to assure all the aspirants that the primaries will be held in a free, fair and transparent manner," he said on Thursday ahead of the party's primary elections."We are confident that at conclusion of the process, all aspirants – winners and losers – will ascribe to the credibility of the process and join hands to secure victory for the Party and the National Super Alliance (NASA). We, however, wish to reiterate Wiper’s unwavering commitment to punish without mercy instances of violence and electoral malpractices during the nominations process," said Omar. The Mombasa Senator has already secured direct nomination to vie for the post of Mombasa governor during the August 8 polls. He will take on incumbent Hassan Joho, Jubilee's Suleiman Shahbal and other aspirants from other political parties to compete for the coveted seat. The former close ally of Joho, fell out with the county chief over allegations that Joho has mismanaged county resources.Hassan claims Joho has been spending county money for personal gain."Wiper intends to serve and provide a model of conducting party primaries that meet all tenets of a free, fair and transparent democratic process," he added. He said the opposition party will accredit independent bodies, civil society organisations, missions and other players who wish to monitor the nominations process. He spoke three days after a rally attended by his key rival- Joho- was disrupted in Migori town after a group of youth accompanied by Migori Governor Okoth Obado stormed the rally venue. They accused Joho, Senators James Orengo (Siaya) and Prof Anyang Nyong'o (Kisumu) of campaigning for Mr Obado's rival.
