The Wiper Party has been urged not to issue certificates to candidates until all disputes concerning last Tuesday's primaries are resolved amicably.Akamba Council of Elders in Mombasa said the party's primaries were rocked with disputes and it would be suicidal for the political outfit to issue certificates yet there are pending disputes.“Most of the nomination results were challenged and Wiper needs to lead by example by putting on hold the issuance of certificates until all the disputes are addressed,” said the council’s spokesman Alexander Mwova.Addressing a press conference at the Akamba Handicraft in Mombasa on Tuesday, Mwova alleged Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar had interfered with the primaries, adding that the exercise was a sham as it lacked transparency and fairness.“Omar had vested interests and ensured his cronies were voted in against the wish of the majority,” claimed Mwova. He threatened to mobilise the Kamba community in the county and convince them to ditch the party if their concerns are not addressed. However, in an earlier statement, Omar denied any cases of irregularities, saying democracy prevailed during the nomination exercise.Mwoza's sentiments were reiterated by Mombasa Women Representative aspirant Nzambi Masila who lost to Zamzam Mohammed in the primaries.“Omar needs to know that those days of imposing leaders on voters have come of age and he should not expect support from aggrieved voters,” said Nzambi.
