Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has expressed confidence that Wiper party will clinch the Kitui West parliamentary seat in the forthcoming by-election slated for Monday March 26, 2018.
Addressing the press in Mwingi town on Saturday, Mulyungi said the party had campaigned vigorously.
Mulyungi said other parties won't have a chance to snatch the win from Wiper candidate Edith Nyenze since the area is a Wiper zone .
"From the campaigns we conducted, Wiper must take this seat with 80% of the votes that I'm sure of," Mulyungi said.
However, he said it would be a big disappointment and shame if the party fails to clinch the seat.
Kitui West Parliamentary seat is contested by five candidates namely Edith Nyenze (Wiper), Robert Ileli (Narc-Kenya), Elijah Kilonzo (CCM), Dennis Mulwa an independent candidate and Friday Mutui (KSC).
The seat was left vacant after Francis Nyenze who was the MP passed on after a battle with cancer in late last year.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to disburse voting materials to 143 polling stations in the constituency.
The constituency has 102,314 registered voters.
