Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper Party is yet to agree on the right candidate to battle it out with the incumbent Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua in the next general elections.
The Star has reported that Kalonzo and other top leaders in the party are attempting to woo former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti to contest against Mutua.
Sources indicate that Kalonzo’s Party is still in search of a strong and able candidate who will beat Mutua hands down in the August election.
A few weeks ago, Kalonzo promised to teach Wiper defectors a bitter lesson and apparently this is the plan on the ground.
The search for a strong candidate has not borne fruits yet since the party’s top leaders have different favorite aspirants.
Senator Johnson Muthama is said to be behind Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala who has not impressed Kalonzo up to date.
It is also said that Kalonzo has attempted to woo East African Legislative Assembly member Peter Mathuki and Kathaini MP Robert Mbui to go for the county’s top seat but his efforts have since proven futile.
A section of residents believe that a combination between Wiper and Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) will give Mutua a run for his money during the August polls.
“If the two parties can agree the headache of who and how to beat Mutua will be a thing of the past,” resident Charles Mwangangi said, as quoted by the Star.
