Following last week’s Peoples’ forum in Kakamega, the Wiper Party was set to host the second forum in Machakos on Sunday.
The party’s national executive council has however decided to put off the forum until disagreements with ODM are resolved.
Sources indicate during the meeting chaired by Kalonzo Musyoka, the leaders took issue with what they termed as unfair sharing of house leadership slots within NASA.
“We will meet so that we can arrange how the People’s assembly will happen and we have tentatively said that it will happen on the 19th in Machakos,” said Professor Kivutha Kibwana.
Their move will no doubt slow down plans to have Raila Odinga and Musyoka sworn in, a ceremony that is planned for January 31.
The Machakos forum was part of a series of events planned in NASA’s Action Plan that will culminate in the oath ceremony in Nairobi.
“We have agreed that the three governors, that is me, Ngilu and (prospective governor) Wavinya will meet and arrange how the peoples’ assembly of lower Eastern will happen,” added Kibwana.
Sources indicate the decision was reached upon as a result of issues raised by Wiper leaders, who feel shortchanged in the sharing of parliamentary slots in the House.
