[Photo: Wavinya Ndeti]Machakos gubernatorial hopeful Wavinya Ndeti has asked her supporters to calm down, and remain hopeful. This is afterbthe Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) dispute resolution tribunal barred from vying for the governor seat. The former Kathiani MP was the leader of Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU), before decamping to Wiper Democratic Movement - Kenya, where she was nominated during party primaries, to vie.Wavinya was barred after the IEBC dispute tribunal found out that her Wiper nomination was irregular, for she a member of two parties during nomination."As at the time of the nomination of Ndeti, she was both a member of CCU and Wiper party which is against the law," said the panel. This is after a petition was filed challenging her eligibility, by members of her party, CCU.However the politician is optimistic that she will be on the ballot come August 8.She said her lawyers were working hard to appeal the IEBC dispute tribunal's ruling, adding that she resigned from CCU before joining Wiper."The decision is not factual. I resigned as a member of CCU before joining Wiper and my documents are with the Registrar of Political Parties," Wavinya told reporters, after the ruling, Thursday."I urge my supporters to remain calm, and I'm assuring them that I'll be on the ballot," she added. The barring could be a relief to her rival, governor Dr Alfred Mutua, who is vying on a Maendeleo Chap Chap Party (MCCP), which supports Nasa's rivals, Jubilee.
