There was tension on Thursday at Karagita’s village in Naivasha as residents ambushed seven residential apartments in a move aimed at flushing out ‘witches’.
The residents were angered by the rise of insecurity where a number of children have been found dead after abduction, or gone missing.
The angry residents discovered among other things, pictures and clothes belonging to area residents.
They also discovered and destroyed several concoctions used for witchcraft.
Two of the suspects were arrested and are being held at Karagita police station where residents took them.
Area youth leader Elijah Ngotho said: “We decided to conduct our own search after two children were abducted and later found dead."
“Some of their body parts were found missing,” Elijah added.
Another resident Jane Wambui said they will conduct the search until all witch doctors are flushed out of the village.
“We suspect the witch doctors are responsible for the abduction of our kids,” she said.
However one of the suspected witch doctor, Robert Mugenda, told this writer that witchcraft is business like any other business.
“I came from Uganda and I have been doing this business since my father died. I inherited this job from him,” Mugenda said
“I have customers among them local church leader who come for some medicines so that they could get followers,” the witch doctor said.
Some of the concoctions were blood mixed with meat.
