Witeithie MCA, Peter Ngugi Muiruri, has embarked on lighting the area following numerous cases of insecurity that have been reported recently.
Speaking during the installation of the first floodlight, Muiruri said that concerns that have been raised by the area residents, as well as the security officers have forced the fast-tracking of the activity.
He revealed that he has been allocated Sh10 million by the county government which is enough to erect 10 floodlights in the area which will ensure the people’s security. This, he said, will also enable them trade till late.
“I am sure the floodlights fixed in different areas will make it easier to conduct business. Insecurity has been a threat to the people at night,” he said.
The lights are being fixed in consideration of the public’s proposals erecting them at dangerous points.
Governor William Kabogo promised to have the area lit up in March this year when he toured the area issuing bursaries to needy students.
