According to Thika West AP Commander Samuel Obonya, AP officers who were on a regular patrol were able to get the weapon, after a tip off from the members of the public over three suspicious men.

“My officers confronted the three men after they were informed by members of the public. The suspects however escaped throwing the gun in a ditch where the officers took it and it is now with our officers,” said Obonya during a briefing with journalists on Monday morning at his Thika office.

Obonya has said that the suspects, who are still on the run, could have been preparing to commit a crime in the area.

Komu Location Chief, Muchui Muiruri, has also lauded the area residents for their co-operation with the police in fighting crime.

“I want to thank the Komu people for embracing community policing, which has helped us to help them stay safe. That is what we would like to see even in future,” said Muiruri.

Residents have now been asked to report the suspects to the Police once they spot them in the area.
