Juja’s Witeithie estate residents have raise alarm over the increased crime in the area, following an incident where armed gunmen attacked and robbed an M-pesa shop at about 8pm on Sunday night.

This comes days after residents took to the streets, demonstrating over the rape and killing of one of the residents, who was later dumped in a house whose construction was ongoing.

Cecilia Kimani, an area resident said that she was attacked by armed gunmen, and robbed of Sh63,000 shillings.

She said that the bandits posed as customers and later drew their guns and ordered her to open the counter.

“The two men came in my shop and posed as customers and they drew their guns and pointed at me, ordered me to open the door leading behind the counter and robbed me all the money In the cash till,” said Kimani.

She said that there is a gang of robbers who are going round stealing from residents, urging police to be more vigilant to save residents from the hands of such men.

However, Witeithie police boss sergeant James Linguli, while speaking the residents at the crime scene in the area, said that they are aware of the gang, and are investigating to know their whereabouts and set a trap to get them.

“We are aware of this gang and we will get them soon, they have committed many crimes in the area and we are setting up the pace to get them on time, if we don’t arrest them we will eliminate them,” said the officer.
