Speaking to the press on Monday morning when he refuted claims regarding the demolition of kiosks in the area, the area MCA’s personal assistant James Njoroge said that the applicants who submitted their forms late last year have not yet received the funds though the communication from the county treasury sent to the MCA has indicated that the residents will receive the funds next week with the recently joined form one students expected to be prioritised.

Njoroge said that parents who have not applied for the fund which will be released by the county government this week are denying their children a right to education and they should apply immediately.

“It is better to apply and wait than sit and decry the delay. If you have not applied you are on the wrong track and you should consider applying immediately,” said Njoroge.

He said that the area has been lagging behind considering that it has only two public primary schools and one secondary school, an issue that has so far forced parents to take their children to far distant schools outside the area.

He called on the county government to fast track the release of the funds adding that with that, parents would be saved time taken by them flocking the MCA’s office each day asking for the same as their children are being sent home from schools due to lack of school fees.

Last year, according to Njoroge, they only gave the funds to the public schools students contrary to this time where they are disbursing to all the students in the area.
