Cord co-principal Moses Wetang’ula, has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to end the military incursion in Somalia and exit the Kenyan military from the neighboring country.
Speaking during a Thursday interview with The Standard at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi, Wetang’ula noted that the Linda Nchi mission in Somalia was achieved and the “boys” have to come back home and guard our territorial borders.
“The job was done. Our boys must come back home. You secure the country by protecting your territorial integrity, not by occupying someone else’s territory,” Wetang’ula said.
The Ford Kenya Party leader pointed out that withdrawal of the Kenya Defence Forces from Somalia was Cord’s official position.
“That is our position shared by my brother Raila and my brother Kalonzo,” he said.
However, President Kenyatta maintains that until Al Shabaab is absolutely defeated, the Kenyan military will not leave Somalia.
