Migori Governor Okoth Obado has asked the Inspector General Joseph Boinnet to recall police officers deployed in Nyanza region and deploy them in regions prone to terrorist attacks.
Obado said the heavy deployment of security officers in the region will not compel residents to vote.
“We don’t want other killings on defenseless people. If they have said no to voting respect that,” an agitated Obado said in Migori town.
“Let’s maintain peace. If you love me you will not harm me. For the majority of Migori people the election comes on Saturday. Unfortunately many people here worship on Saturday. It is a very bad day and voting will not take place.”
Migori is among counties where voting was postponed by the IEBC on Thursday because of violence.
Obado accused the police of breaking into people’s doors, beating them and eating food in kitchens.
