Tana River Governor Hussein Dado has predicted a fallout in the National Super Alliance (NASA) if Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama quits Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party.
Governor Dado said Muthama is a key factor in NASA and without him the alliance will crumble.
In an interview with the Daily Nation, Dado further said it will be the end of Kalonzo’s political career if the Machakos Senator abandons him, arguing that Kalonzo cannot survive politically without Muthama.
“Kalonzo will die politically if he loses Senator Johnson Muthma and that will also be the end of NASA,” said Dado, as quoted by the Nation.
“I agree with the issues raised by Senator Muthama and part of the claims he raised made me quit the party.”
However, the Governor said NASA has no chance of winning the August 8 general election, adding that the alliance is led by selfish leaders who only care about their own interests.
Last week, Muthama abandoned Wiper party citing discrimination and favourism in the party.
Muthama said he has lost faith and hope in the party, adding that he will also not be contesting for the senatorial seat in the August 8 polls.
Several politicians allied to Kalonzo are now appealing to Muthama to rescind his decision and return to the party.
On Friday, Kalonzo urged Muthama to return to the party saying he is needed.
Muthama has however vowed not to return to the party, claiming that he was stopped from contesting for the Nairobi senatorial seat.
The outspoken Senator said he cannot contest for the seat in Machakos if Governor Alfred Mutua and Wavinya Ndeti will be on the ballot.
He claimed that the two are dishonest leaders, adding that he can never work with them.
Political analysts warned NASA could lose grip of the Ukambani votes if Muthama parts way with Kalonzo.
