A witness has told the Mombasa Law Court that exam officials might have been involved in leaking the 2015 KCPE examination papers.
Police constable Edward Rono who appeared as a prosecution witness told the court on Wednesday that anyone could have leaked the exam papers including the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) officials.
In the case, twelve people were charged with being in possession of unauthorised examination materials.
Mr Rono, who is attached to the urban police investigation department, said exam officials who were the rightful custodians of the papers, might have been involved in the exam leakage.
He further told Mombasa principal magistrate Edgar Kagoni that they received reports of the said leakage from a senior Knec official.
The twelve, are accused of being found in possession of unauthorised examination papers on their WhatsApp platforms in November, 2015.
The accused persons are Zillah Wacharo, Edda Wakio, Margaret Nyamvula, Agatha Wafula, and Newton Mwalamisi.
They were charged together with Mary Evereso, Beth Wangui, Pili Omar, Janet Maro, Asli Ibrahim, Edith Mutambi and Beatrice Busaka.
The prosecution told the court that the accused were allegedly found in possession of English, Mathematics and English Composition papers.
The case will continue on November 21.
