The 44th witness in the case, a Criminal Analyst based at the CID in his report before the court, linked various mobile data records and satellite networks to four suspects in the case with attackers of the Westgate Mall.

The suspects, Mohammed Ahmed Adi, Liban Abdullah Omar, Adan Abdikadir Adan and Hussein Hassan Mustafa are facing various counts of terrorism related to the Westgate attack.

The fifth suspect Abdikadir Mohammed who was involved in the hiring the motor vehicle used to drop attackers at the mall is still at large.

Led by Prosecution’s Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions (SADPP) James Warui and Senior Prosecution Counsel (SPC) Laura Spira, the witness stated that the suspects had close association with four attackers of Westgate, showing constant communication before, during and after the incident. He further revealed that although the suspects’ lines were registered, the court heard that mobile registration was done using fake identification.

During a court session the surveillance analysed movements before the attackers hit the mall, pointing out various stop points en-route to Westgate Mall. They had a common trail from Uganda to Nairobi through Malaba before the attack.

The next hearing of the case has been set for 15th September 2015.
