Wives to top political leaders in the country have been urged to take a leading role towards making sure peace and reconciliation prevails in the country.
Mrs. Winny Ogot, a gender and Equity activist from Kisumu County said on Wednesday that all is not well in the country following the disputed August 8th Presidential elections.
Speaking to Journalists in Kisumu, Ms. Ogot challenged the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, Rachel Ruto wife to Deputy President William Ruto, Ida Odinga Wife to National Super Alliance (NASA) leader and Pauline Muysoka wife to Kalonzo Musyoka to provide guidance to the country.
“The four top women are our role models, they are also our mothers, let them talk to their husbands so that Kenyan can live in peace,” she said
Her call comes amid a time when the Opposition has moved to the Supreme Court, in a bid to challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win.
While attending the inauguration ceremony of Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Tuesday. NASA leaders Raila Odinga stated that he would lead what he labeled as “a national campaign for truth and electoral justice in Kenya.”
