Addressing the press on Thursday in his office, Simon Kiragu said the suspect was spotted by the solder in the hospital dumping a wrapped polythene bag.

“On Tuesday morning a solder in the hospital saw the woman carrying something in a polythene bag. He followed the woman immediately and found that she had dumped a foetus,” the police boss said.

He added: "He then reported the matter to the management of the hospital. She is remanded in police custody. She will be charged once investigations are complete."

Kiragu warned anybody against engaging in abortion act, saying its illegal and offenders will face full force of law.

“It's against the law to abort. If one is caught involved either aborting of helping one to abort will be charged."
