A 32-year-old woman facing charges of allegedly chopping off her husband's genitals was on Tuesday freed on bond by a Mombasa Court.
The prosecution told the court that the accused, Ms Pauline Mukiri, allegedly chopped Mr Alloys Matata's private parts which led to his death on February 27, 2016 at Bamburi in Kisauni.
Ms Mukiri and her husband are said to have quarreled after she allegedly found him with another woman at a local bar. Mr Matata died while receiving treatment at Yeshua Medical Centre in Bamburi.
The charge was reduced from murder to manslaughter after the accused denied killing her husband.
Ms Mukiri who denied the charges before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi filed an application to be released on a reasonable bail term.
Magistrate Shitubi in her ruling granted the application and ordered for the accused to be released on a bond of Sh500,000 with a surety of a similar amount.
The case will be heard on April 12.
