According to the locals the woman and the farmhand had secretly stolen the goat and slaughtered it. However the farmhand broke confidence once he was sacked after a disagreement with her.

"The goat had been tethered under that mango tree by my son but since there was nobody at home the goat remained there till we don't know when. On arrival late in the evening we did not find it,” said Jane Wambui, the goat's owner.

Wambui said that her efforts to search the goat in the neighborhood bore no fruits as everyone reported not to have seen the animal.

The goat’s legs and skin were discovered at the woman's house which the goat's owner confirmed to be that of her lost goat.

Gatundu South OCPD Bernard Muli said the woman who has since been put under police custody will be charged with theft.

Muli has also said that a manhunt for the farmhand who has since gone into hiding is also on.
