The woman had visited Kangundo level-4 hospital as a patient and had been sitting outside the doctor’s office as though waiting to be served.

Confirming the incident Kangundo level 4 hospital administrator, Lawrence Mulunje, said that he had been alerted by the hospital attendants after the patient reported the incident immediately.

“The woman was not aware that she was seen committing the act. After I was alerted I rung the hospital’s main gate and fortunately she had not left  although she was about to get out,” said Mulunje.

Mulunje further explained that, on noticing her mission had been known, she tried to run away but the security officers got hold of her.

The administrator further said that the hospital is in the process of putting in security measures as similar cases were on the rise in the facility.

“We will soon put in measures to curb such incidences because our staff and even patients have been complaining of loosing personal items,” said Mulunje.

The doctor whose handbag had been stolen said that the bag contained personal documents and money.

The woman was taken to Kangundo police station custody on Tuesday evening waiting to be arraigned in court on Wednesday (today) morning.
