A Thika taxi driver was on Wednesday morning hacked to death by unknown assailants as he was entering his compound.Thika OCPD Willy Simba who confirmed the incident said Mr Francis Kariuki was killed by an unknown number of people while he was opening his gate.Mr Simba said they have arrested a woman in connection with the murder adding that she is helping the police with investigations.The 37-year-old taxi driver had sustained a cut in the back of his head.“We really cannot tell the motive of this murder. We have one female suspect in our custody and she is helping with investigations,” said the OCPD.The taxi driver’s wife, Naomi Wanjiku, told reporters that they had returned to Section 9 estate from a function at about 3am when the attack took place. Wanjiku said Kariuki was attacked by the gangsters when he was opening the gate for her, adding that the attackers must have been waiting inside the compound as she did not see them.“Kariuki got out of the car to open the gate but delayed to return. I hooted but he did not respond. I found him lying in a pool of blood. I did not see anyone and I cannot tell how they escaped,” Wanjiku.“I sounded the alarm to attract our neighbours who responded and rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead,” she added, as quoted by The Star.
