A woman was on Wednesday arrested in Nairobi County after a message going round on social media promising Nairobi residents a Sh15,000 salary as members of the Sonko Rescue Team.
The unidentified woman is said to have sent a Whatsapp message to hundreds of people that invited the youths to apply for jobs with the SRT.
The message that was widely shared read: “If you know any Youth in Nbi who is interested in working with Team Sonko as a cleaner kindly inform he/her to register at the County ward office immediately salary is 15,000/month and only ID card needed.”
Governor Mike Sonko has however dismissed the message as fake, while warning Nairobians of conmen who are using his name to swindle Kenyans.
Through his Facebook page the Governor revealed that the alleged conmen cheat Kenyans that they can secure jobs for them after a Sh1,500 shilling registration fee has been paid.
On a video posted on his page the lady is seen defending herself at the police station where she said that an unidentified man had asked her to send the message on Whatsapp.
