A woman from Geteri, Gesusu Kisii county was on Saturday arrested for selling illicit brew.
The suspect identified only as Esther was nabbed by Nyumba Kumi officials who were conducting a crackdown on illicit brew.
Isaac Omwenga, a Nyumba Kumi official said the woman refused to allow them to pour chang'aa they had found in her home and that she was ready to be arraigned in court.
"We had to arrest her because she said it was better than pouring the illicit brew," said Omwenga.
A police officer from Gesusu area who requested for anonymity as he is not allowed to speak to the media said the suspect had been transferred to Kisii Central police station.
"The suspect was taken to Kisii Central Police Station and will be areaigned in court on Monday," said the officer.
He arrest comes barely a week after Kisii police commandant Hassan Abdi sent a stern warning against those brewing illicit liquor saying that their days were numbered.
