A woman is fighting for her life at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital after she was attacked and injured on Thursday at a funeral in Bomokora, Bonchari constituency, Kisii County.

It is alleged that the woman who hails from Bombure Bwangeri had gone to the funeral to bury her relative who had passed on.

Speaking from her hospital bed on Friday the woman who declined to be named said she was attacked when she questioned family members why they removed the deceased from the coffin and forced him to sit.

“I was not happy because the family members were dancing around the deceased after they removed him from the coffin at night. When I questioned them, they descended on me with kicks and blows saying that I didn’t have the authority to question them,” she said.

She said during the attack, she sustained serious hand, abdomen injuries. 

The woman said she will file a case in court once discharged from the hospital. 

Raphael Omete, a doctor attending her at the hospital said she is out of danger and will be discharged from the hospital by next week Wednesday.
