A middle aged woman was arrested at Free area shopping centre in Nakuru for allegedly being found in possession of a lost wallet containing Sh3900.

According to a matatu conductor, a passenger had claimed that her wallet has just been snatched from her hand bag few minutes after boarding the matatu in Gilgil.

The victim Marry Thuo was travelling from Gilgil to Nakuru to visit her sick mother who was admitted at Mediheal hospital, when she noticed her wallet was missing.

She suspected the lady who was seated next to her and urged the driver and the conductor to do the search to arrest the culprit, the matatu was stopped at free area and a search carried out.

The conductor, identified as Maina together with Marry started searching a passenger after the other when the suspect dropped the wallet.

Luckily, she was seen by a male passenger seated behind her who raised the alarm to the relief of the other passengers.

The woman was then beaten up and booked at the Free area Administration Police station.

Confirming the incidence, Free area Administration Police boss Ben Lusaka, said the woman will be taken to central police station immediately after investigation.

The incidence comes just few weeks after police warned Nakuru resident against con women in the town and its environs.
