A middle-aged woman has been arraigned in a Nakuru court for obtaining money by false pretense to supply a church with marriage certificate books.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate David Kimei, Everlyne Adhiambo denied obtaining Sh500 000 between October 15 and 28, 2014 by promising to serve Kings Outreach Church, Njoro with the documents on behalf of the church.
Adhiambo was arrested on June 21 in Nairobi where she was detained before being transferred to Njoro Police station.
The court granted the accused request to be served with statements from the witnesses, copies of marriage certificate receipt books and copies of payment slips of the Sh500 000 allegedly paid to the accused bank accounts.
The prosecution asked the court to preserve the bank accounts in which the payment were made and which are operated by the accused.
The case will be mentioned on July 7 and heard on June 21
