A 54-years-old woman was on Wednesday arraigned before a Nakuru court where she was charged with trafficking narcotic drugs.
Mary Moraa was arrested on December 20 last year by Corporal Erick Inyanji at her rural home in Molo sub-county after neighbours gave a tip off to the police on the illegal trade.
Inyanji told the court that they found the accused at her home who allowed him with two other colleagues to search her residential house after introducing themselves and hinting their mission.
They recovered a total of six sacks which were half-full of illegal bhang hidden under the bed, under the table and on the ceiling of the bedroom of her house.
They also recovered 184 rolls of the illegal drug. They booked her at Molo Police Station where they weighed the recovered drug which weighed 22 kilograms estimated at Sh44 000 then.
According to corporal Inyanji, they took a sample of each sack to the government chemist where it was confirmed that it was indeed bhang (cannabis sativa).
He also told the court the accused had on 2012 been arraigned in court facing similar accusations where she was charged and fined.
Lawyer Francis Makori who represented Moraa challenged Inyanji to produce the money or customers they recovered to establish that the bhang was for sale.
Inyanji told the court that they received a tip off from the suspect's neighbours and that due to the large volume of the drug it was intended for sale.
In her statement, Moraa says she received the illegal drug from a Tanzanian dealer, Nyanja Maa.
The case was adjourned to August 21 where the government analyst will testify on examinations he made on the drug.
