A woman was on Wednesday arraigned before an Eldoret court and charged with attempting to steal Sh5 million from Commercial Bank of Africa.
The prosecution told the court that the woman, Annastacia Njeri Mathenge, who works for the bank, committed the offense on November 8, 2017.
She denied the theft charges and asked the court to release her on bond saying she has a family that depends on her.
“I am not a thief and will never be one. I have a family that depends on me denying me bond will subject my family to mental torture,” she pleaded.
She was released on Sh600,000. The case was set for hearing on January 24.
Meanwhile, 3 youths were charged with being in possession of bhang and illicit brew, chang’aa.
The suspects Jonathan Maina, Nickson Manina and Culygin Okwenda were arrested at Baringo estate, Eldoret West, Uasin Gishu County.
They denied the charges. The court released them on Sh10,000 cash bail. The cases were set for hearing on January 24.
