A woman was on Tuesday charged before a Nakuru Court for aiding and abetting Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

The suspect and her six victims took plea in camera on what the court claimed they were indecently dressed in skin attire and the victims were minors.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate, Christine Kilel, they were accused of allegedly aiding and abetting the circumcision of Cherono Soi on the night of November 29 at Mauche area in Njoro sub-county within Nakuru County.

She allegedly circumcised six girls whom the prosecution said were minors.

The minors were also charged before the same court on the offense of failing to report their circumcision to law enforcement officers, fact that they knew it was against the law.

The accused were arrested on the night of November 29 after security officers were tipped  off by officials from Africa Co-coordinating Centre of Abandoning FGM (ACCAF).

They were found in a room and they are still nursing cut wound.

Kilel pleaded guilty to the charges and case will be mentioned on December 1, 2016 for presentation of facts by the prosecution.
