A middle-aged woman was arraigned before a Thika court to answer to charges of cyberbullying.
Joyce Muchiri was being accused of allegedly insulting Ms Gladys Njoroge by sending her nasty messages using a social site.
The court heard that the accused person committed the offence on January 26, 2018, in Ruiru sub-county, Kiambu.
The prosecution told senior resident magistrate Grace Omuodho that cyberbullying has become rampant and called for punitive measures to curb the crime.
The accused, however, denied the cyberbullying charges which is contrary to Computer and Cyber Crimes Act.
Muchiri filed an application to be released on bail pending the next case hearing.
Magistrate Omuodho granted the application and ordered that the accused person be released on a Sh100,000 bond or a cash bail of Sh50,000 with a surety of a similar amount.
The case will be heard on June 15, this year.
