The woman identified as Mary Magero claimed that trouble started after her husband died in 2016.

“My father-in-law identified as Mark started causing trouble after my husband died in 2016. He has been pushing me out of my home after he stopped me from cultivating a piece of land that was allocated to my husband,” she said.

She also alleged that the area chief and Nyumba Kumi officials were colluding with her father-in-law to kick her out of the matrimonial home.

"He has bribed locals and no one is giving me an ear, all they want is me to go with my three children. I decided to rent a house in Ogembo," she said.

Ms Magero asked the Human rights department to intervene and help her be allowed to stay at her matrimonial home.
