A woman and her child died after fire broke out in Kayole area, Nairobi on Monday night.
According to police, the woman and her child were in the house when fire broke.
Police said the fire started from one affected house before the flames spread fast to other structures.
A resident Titus Kamau said they suspect the fire broke as a result of an electric fault.
"We suspect an electric fault caused the fire. We tried to save the two but in vain because the fire spread too fast," he said.
Police have launched investigations to establish the casue of fire.
Fire cases is on the rise in the past few days in the city depsite calls being made by residents to decentralize fire services to sub counties for fast response.
