A woman and a child are nursing serious injuries at Thika District Hospital after their car rolled several times along the Thika-Kilambogo road last evening.
According to Thika Police boss Shadrack Maithya, the car rolled after hitting a Delmonte lorry from behind.
The lorry is said to have had no rear brake lights while the car is said to have been speeding when the accident occurred.
"We have confiscated the lorry and arrested the driver pending further investigations. We are also trying to find out whether the car was speeding as has been reported," said Maithya.
Following the incident, Maithya has given a stern warning to those breaking traffic rules saying they will not be spared once they are caught.
"There are people who are driving vehicles without a police inspection certificate while others have no driving licences at all. This will not be condoned at all," he said.
The lorry was transporting fruits to the Thika based Delmonte Company.
