A woman in Nyahera, Kisumu yesterday killed three children before committing suicide.
The woman identified as Jacinta Atieno killed her co-wife's children aged seven, five, and two after which hanged herself using a rope.
Reports from the family indicated that Atieno had earlier tried committing suicide by drinking poison but she was quickly rushed to hospital.
"Just a few weeks ago she was found in possession of five litres of petrol in her house after making threats over and over. Unfortunately no one took her seriously," said one of the relatives as quoted by The Nation.
According to the relative, Atieno lured the first wife's children to her house at mid day and gave them poisoned porridge before killing them.
The matter was reported to the police who came and took away the bodies to a nearby morgue.
