A woman who got various body injuries after allegedly being beaten by her ‘violent’ husband now wants the court to order him to pay her compensation.
On Monday, Kisumu High Court heard that Thomas Okumu Odhiambo beat up, injured and cut one of the wife’s fingers on September 21, 2013 at their house in Nyalenda, Kisumu town.
Ms Hellen Achieng told the court that on the said date, her husband came back at home at around 8 pm while drunk, and started attacking her without reason.
She said he beat her up, injured various parts of her body among them neck before chopping off one of her fingers.
The two separated soon after the incident and continue to live separately.
The complainant now wants the court to order the accused to compensate her for the torture she went through in his hands.
She also wants the court to order the accused to refund all the money she used for medical attention.
The case was presided over by Magistrate Thomas Obutu and will be next heard on 13th September, 2016.
