A middle aged woman was on Tuesday arraigned in a court in Nakuru, to face charges of breaking into her former boyfriend’s house and stealing household items worth Sh80,000 while he was away on duty.
The court, under the precision of Chief Resident Magistrate James Mwaniki, heard that Stella Owino, 33, illegally gained entry into Kennedy Wafula’s rental house in Langalanga estate on March 5 this year, after using a duplicate key she had taken from the complainant sometimes back before she indulged in the illegal activity.
The prosecution said that the accused had undertaken the illegal activity while the complainant was away on duty, but had been spotted by a neigbour who informed him.
The court heard that the complainant, who had separated with the accused, had reported the matter to Bondeni police station and helped police to carry out investigations that resulted to the arrest of the accused at her rental house in Kivumbini estate within Nakuru town on March 8 this year.
The accused, who upon arrest was found in possession of some of the stolen items, including a video machine, iron box, two jackets and two pairs of shoes among others, was remanded in custody after she denied the charges, and after failing to raise a cash bail of Sh10,000 or a bond of Sh50,000.
The case will be heard on March 31.
