An elderly woman died on Sunday after she consumed chang’aa in Raganga village, Kisii County.

Mr Dan Mogere said that his mother died after she consumed chang'aa at a local joint. 

"My mother has been a chang'aa addict dor years now and it is unfortunate that the drink she loved most has taken her life away," he said. 

Heallegesd that his mother was poisoned. 

Mr Banjamin Ayuma the area chief told Hivisasa that the village is well known od having a number of brewers and addicts. 

"It is unfortunate that we lost one life in the morning due to illicit brew. This has happened despite the many warnings I have issued," he said. 

He warned that anyone found brewing chang'aa will be arrested and charged in a court of law.
