The woman, who the villagers only identified as Bosibori raised an alarm for help when she saw the hyena emerge from a nearby tea bush while fleeing from a man who was thinning the bushes.

According to the villagers, the wild animal, which has been on the loose in the area, was suspected to have taken refuge in the tea bushes only to be smoked out from its hideout.

The animal was pursued by villagers who killed it, but more drama unfolded when two villagers emerged with a sack and stuffed the animal in it and took off to unknown destination.

According to unconfirmed reports from the villagers indicted that, the two men allegedly sold the hyena to a local witchdoctor.

“We are still wondering how we can kill a dreaded wild animal and some people boldly disappear with it to unknown destination,” lamented one of the villagers.

The hyena is a dreaded animal in Kisii, as local residents associate it to those suspected to be practicing wizardry.
