An elderly woman and her grandchild have been arrested in Tabaka area after a body of a dead baby was discovered in their house.
The lady is said to have been alarmed by a strong stench emanating from the house, only to find a bag hidden in her ceiling.
On further investigation, she realized that the stench emanated from the bag, prompting her to call for help from her sons.
At first, the family thought it was a cat that probably died in the bag and was decomposing, leading to the foul smell.
However, they were shocked to discover the body of the now decomposing soul, with further investigations revealing that it might have been the woman’s granddaughter who hid the body of the young baby.
The case was reported to the police, who came and picked the body of the baby and arrested the two.
They were taken to Nyamarambe Police Station, as police unravel the circumstances leading to the incident.
The area OCS and other administration leaders warned area locals that they will not tolerate such immoral cases in the area, and will arrest all those found involved in such criminal acts.
