[Photo/Standard]Residents of Nyabiosi village, Bomariba ward Kisii South Sub County were on Tuesday evening shocked after a middle-aged woman identified as Edinah consumed poison after a quarrel with her mother in law.
According to a neighbor Venah Makori, Edinah was heard quarreling with her mother in law in the morning when her husband had left home for work.
“We heard the two quarreling early in the morning but we didn’t take it seriously. It is a shock that she decided to consume poison,” Venah said.
Venah said Edinah was rushed to Nyagundo Level 4 hospital before she was transferred to Nyangena private hospital where she is currently receiving treatment.
Area Nyumba Kumi official Nyamira Nyaboga said on Friday last week, elders were at their home to solve the issues the two were quarreling over.
“Last week we sat and agreed that the two should respect each other for the sake of peace in the family. We warned the mother in law against using abusive words to Edinah when she is drunk. Let her get well so that she can tell us what went wrong again,” said Nyaboga.
He urged residents to involve local leaders and religious leaders when solving family problems.
