Sipporah Nyaboke, on February 26 2015 within the Central Business District, was found by the county health officers selling food in a very untidy environment, despite cholera outbreak in the neighboring regions.

The accused was then taken to court for contravening section 7 of the penal code as read with section 36(1)(a) of the Food, Drugs and Chemical Substance Act CAP 254 laws of Kenya.

During his judgment, Resident Magistrate R N Makila slapped the accused with a cash bail of Sh5000.

Health officers have been traversing the town to apprehend those perpetrating ‘dirty food businesses’, which may be injurious to the public health.

A fortnight ago, the County Health minister issued a stern warning against hotel and roadside food sellers to embrace hygienic environment in bid to keep cholera outbreak at bay.

The Ministry of Health, Kisii County has been appreciated by the general public in ensuring that the deadly cholera disease does not find its way in Bosongo land.

The cholera pandemic is a disease which comes as a result of consumption of unclean food stuffs.

The county is on high alert following the demise of more than fourteen victims of cholera in Migori and Homabay counties, both which borders the region.
